Does structural transformation in economy impact inequality in renewable energy productivity? Implications for sustainable development

Jing Zhao et al.

Summary: This study aims to assess the impacts of structural transformation on inequality in renewable energy productivity across selected OECD countries between 1990 and 2019. The study finds that structural transformation and technological innovation help reduce inequality in renewable energy productivity, while conflicts and economic conflicts generate adverse effects. Policy interventions responsible for the exacerbation of inequality are identified, and a policy framework is provided to help OECD countries achieve the objectives of SDG 7 and SDG 13.

The nexus between urbanization, renewable energy consumption, financial development, and CO2 emissions: evidence from selected Asian countries

Ahsan Anwar et al.

Summary: This study explores the impact of urbanization, renewable energy consumption, financial development, agriculture, and economic growth on CO2 emissions in 15 Asian economies from 1990 to 2014. The results suggest that urbanization, financial development, and economic growth increase CO2 emissions, while renewable energy consumption reduces CO2 emissions, with agriculture having an insignificant impact. The study recommends a comprehensive SDG-oriented policy framework for these economies to progress towards achieving SDG 13 and SDG 7 objectives, contributing to the literature by including economic growth and its drivers.

Determinants of carbon emissions in Argentina: The roles of renewable energy consumption and globalization

Li Yuping et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the dynamic effects of globalization, renewable energy consumption, non-renewable energy consumption, and economic growth on carbon-dioxide emission levels in Argentina. The findings suggest that renewable energy consumption and globalization can reduce emissions, while non-renewable energy consumption can increase emissions. Additionally, the environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis was confirmed.
