Enhanced CO2 photocatalytic conversion into CH3OH over visible-light-driven Pt nanoparticle-decorated mesoporous ZnO-ZnS S-scheme heterostructures

Reda M. Mohamed et al.

Summary: The design and fabrication of Pt nanoparticle-decorated mesoporous ZnO-ZnS heterostructures were described and used effectively for photocatalytic CO2 conversion to yield CH3OH. The significantly enhanced reduction of CO2 was attributed to the synergistic effects of the ZnO-ZnS heterostructure and the incorporation of Pt NPs. The synthesized photocatalyst provides a new transfer route through which carriers can migrate to the outer surface as well as pore channels of the mesoporous ZnO-ZnS, thereby significantly minimizing the transfer distance for carriers and inhibiting photoinduced electron-hole recombination.

Visible-light-driven S-scheme mesoporous Ag3VO4/C3N4 heterojunction with promoted photocatalytic performances

Hind Alshaikh et al.

Summary: The mesoporous Ag3VO4/C3N4 photocatalysts exhibited significantly higher photocatalytic Hg(II) reduction performance compared to pristine g-C3N4 and Ag3VO4 NPs. The synthetic mesoporous 2.4%Ag3VO4/C3N4 photocatalyst showed the best photoreduction performance among all the synthesized nanocomposites. Through the synergetic effect of S-scheme heterojunction structure, high surface area, and promotion light harvest, the mesoporous Ag3VO4/C3N4 photocatalysts achieved efficient photoinduced charges separation to enhance Hg(II) reduction.

In-situ preparation of double Z-scheme Bi2S3/BiVO4/TiO2 ternary photocatalysts for enhanced photoelectrochemical and photocatalytic performance

Zhu Liu et al.

Summary: Novel double-Z-scheme Bi2S3/BiVO4/TiO2 (BVT) heterostructured photocatalysts were prepared using continuous hydrothermal methods in this study, achieving in situ conversion of BiVO4/TiO2 (VT) binary photocatalysts into BVT ternary photocatalysts with large optical absorption coefficients. Compared to TiO2 nanorod (TNR) arrays, BVT photocatalysts extend the light absorption range to the near-infrared while maintaining consistently high absorption intensities.

Synthesis of an efficient, and recyclable mesoporous BiVO4/TiO2 direct Z-scheme heterojunction by sonochemical route for photocatalytic hydrogen production and photodegradation of rhodamine B dye in the visible region

Hisham S. M. Abd-Rabboh et al.

Summary: Sonicated mesoporous BiVO4/TiO2 heterojunctions show high efficiency in photodegradation of dyes and production of hydrogen gas. The optimum concentration of BiVO4 is 10 wt%, generating hydrogen gas at a rate of 14.3 mmolg-1h-1. Ultrasound radiation plays a key role in reducing particle aggregates and increasing the concentration of active sites.
