Insights into the fluid wetting law and fractal characteristics of coal particles during water injection based on nuclear magnetic resonance

He Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, nuclear magnetic resonance experiments (NMR) were conducted to reveal the migration mechanism of water between coal particles during coal seam water injection. The study found that the wettability of the coal samples is related to the degree of metamorphism and particle size. The addition of surfactants can enhance the wetting process. The findings have important implications for improving coal seam wetting and dust reduction.

Water film area and dust removal efficiency of string grilles: a theoretical analysis

Hua Guo et al.

Summary: Based on multiphase flow theory and capillary mechanics, a dimensionless bond number expression for the influence of string grille wire spacing on droplet spreading is derived. An equation for calculating the thickness and height of the liquid film is established, and a dust removal efficiency calculation model for wet string grille wire group is constructed. The theoretical analysis finds that the spray pressure has a more significant impact on water film area and dust removal efficiency than the string grille wire distance diameter ratio, with an optimized combination identified for engineering applications.

Modeling and experiment for effective diffusion coefficient of gas in water-saturated coal

Leilei Si et al.

Summary: An improved model was developed to calculate the effective diffusion coefficient of gas in a water-saturated coal core, providing more accurate results compared to traditional models. Experimental results also showed that as coal rank increases, saturated moisture and equilibrium moisture decrease, along with a shift in pore size dominance from micropore/mesopore-dominated to micropores-dominated.

A NEW FRACTAL MODEL OF COAL PERMEABILITY BASED ON THE INCREASING FRACTAL CONSTRUCTION METHOD OF THE MENGER SPONGE

Zhen Liu et al.

Summary: This study uses fractal theory to describe the dynamic evolution law of coal structure and permeability, and establishes a fractal permeability model to describe the coal seam water injection process. The research finds that the fractal dimension of the pore structure is directly proportional to the specific surface area, leading to an increase in fluid flow resistance and a decrease in theoretical permeability with increasing fractal dimension.

The influence of long-time water intrusion on the mineral and pore structure of coal

Leilei Si et al.

Summary: Intrusion of formation water into coal seams reduces gas extraction efficiency. Experiments showed decreased mineral content and changed pore structure in coal due to water intrusion. Factors such as clay mineral collapse, mineral dissolution, and coal swelling play significant roles in influencing the pore structure of coal during water intrusion.

Experimental study of the dust-removal performance of a wet scrubber

Shengyong Hu et al.

Summary: This study developed a wet scrubber design and found that increasing water intake improved dust removal efficiency, with the wet scrubber with 16 blades performing the best at a water intake level of 1.35 m(3)/h. The application of this wet scrubber in a coal preparation plant in China's Shanxi Province resulted in significant reductions in total dust and respirable dust concentrations, providing important references for improving coal production environmental conditions.

Water sorption on coal: effects of oxygen-containing function groups and pore structure

Ang Liu et al.

Summary: The interaction between coal and water is influenced by the degree of coal oxidation and cumulative pore volume, whereas temperature has limited effects on water vapor sorption. As water vapor uptake increases, the isosteric heat of water adsorption decreases, indicating that primary adsorption is controlled by stronger bonding energy, while the interaction energy between water molecules during secondary adsorption is relatively weak.

Exploration on molecular dynamics simulation methods of microscopic wetting process for coal dust

Qi Zhang et al.

Summary: This study used molecular dynamics simulation to explore the micro-wetting process of coal dust, proposed a method for establishing a molecular model of lignite with a more reasonable 2D periodic surface structure, and established a coal-H2O molecular surface system using the NVT aeration method, which showed a close approximation to the actual coal dust wetting process. The simulation effect of medium and large coal dust-H2O molecular systems was found to be better than that of small coal dust-H2O molecular systems.

W. R. Reed et al.

Summary: The study found that foam agents are effective in controlling dust generated from longwall shield movements, with reductions of at least 45% achieved. At low-velocity ventilation, all tested foam agents were able to significantly reduce dust levels; however, at high-velocity ventilation, the reductions were lower and more variable.
