Effect of heavy metals on protein content of marine unicellular green alga Dunaliella tertiolecta

Nagwa El Agawany et al.

Summary: The study found that low concentrations of the three heavy metals have a stimulatory effect on protein content of marine unicellular green alga Dunaliella tertiolecta, but increasing levels of heavy metals lead to inhibitory effect on protein synthesis. It is recommended to encourage site selection of optimal marine environments suitable for the proliferation of marine algae rich in protein content.

Environmental and Stress Analysis of Wild Plant Habitat in River Nile Region of Dakahlia Governorate on Basis of Geospatial Techniques

Yasser A. El-Amier et al.

Summary: The study characterized wild plant habitats in the River Nile region of Dakahlia Governorate using a multidisciplinary approach, and found a total of 64 plant species belonging to 53 genera and 28 families. The plant species were classified into four main categories ecologically, and divided into three communities based on TWINSPAN classification. The results indicated a correlation between the loss of agricultural lands and the expansion of urban areas, leading to changes in wild plant habitats.

Prediction of future situation of land use/cover change and modeling sensitivity to pollution in Edku Lake, Egypt based on geospatial analyses

Hazem T. Abd El-Hamid et al.

Summary: This study focused on the assessment of land use/cover changes in Edku Lake, Egypt, using remote sensing data and GIS techniques, and developed a pollution sensitivity model. The study revealed significant changes in the lake from 2000 to 2018, with a notable increase in fish farms. The predicted map for 2025 indicates a conversion of large vegetative areas into urban and fish farming areas.
