Imputation of Below Detection Limit Missing Data in Chemical Mixture Analysis with Bayesian Group Index Regression

Matthew Carli et al.

Summary: This paper addresses the issue of below detection limit (BDL) missing data in mixture analysis and proposes a pseudo-Gibbs imputation method based on Bayesian group index regression. Simulation studies and application to real data demonstrate the superior power and sensitivity of this method in high BDL missing data situations.

Cadmium exposure, fasting blood glucose changes, and type 2 diabetes mellitus: A longitudinal prospective study in China

Summary: This study found that chronic cadmium exposure may contribute to elevated fasting blood glucose levels and an increased risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Increasing levels of cadmium exposure were associated with higher fasting blood glucose changes and incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Intrauterine antibiotic exposure affected neonatal gut bacteria and infant growth speed*

Yuhan Zhou et al.

Summary: This study found that intrauterine antibiotic exposure may affect infant growth, with the neonatal gut microbiota potentially playing a role in this association. Penicillin was positively associated with infant growth at birth and growth speed from 2 to 6 months, while certain bacterial taxa from the phyla Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, and Firmicutes were related to penicillin concentrations. Other bacterial taxa such as Actinobacteria and Firmicutes were significantly associated with weight and BMI growth speeds in infants.

Associations of urinary carbon disulfide metabolite with oxidative stress, plasma glucose and risk of diabetes among urban adults in China

Tao Xu et al.

Summary: The study revealed a significant relationship between urinary CS2 metabolite and FPG levels, as well as diabetes risk, with a potential role of oxidative stress in mediating these associations. Lipid peroxidation was found to partially mediate the association between urinary CS2 metabolite and FPG levels.

Summary: The study found a positive and linear association between nitrogen dioxide concentration and total, cardiovascular, and respiratory mortality. This association remained significant after adjusting for other pollutants. The study suggests that tightening the regulatory limits of nitrogen dioxide could lead to health benefits.
