Blasting excavation and stability control technology for ultra-high steep rock slope of hydropower engineering in China: a review

Deng Ke et al.

Summary: China has entered a high-speed construction period on hydropower engineering since the late 20th century, with strict requirements for blasting excavation and stability control on ultra-high steep rock slopes, attracting attention to reinforcement technology by engineers. A case study of the left bank slope of Jinping I hydropower station reflects the challenging blasting excavation and stability control technology in hydropower engineering slopes, providing reference for similar engineering projects.

Construction dewatering in a metro station incorporating buttress retaining wall to limit ground settlement: Insights from experimental modelling

Chao-Feng Zeng et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of buttress retaining walls on ground settlement during construction dewatering. Results showed that buttress walls significantly reduce ground settlement caused by foundation pit dewatering, with longer walls achieving greater reduction. However, the deformation-restraining efficiency of buttress walls reduces as their length increases in conditions with small drawdown from dewatering.

Impact of the Depth of Diaphragm Wall on the Groundwater Drawdown during Foundation Dewatering Considering Anisotropic Permeability of Aquifer

Xu-wei Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of diaphragm wall buried depth on groundwater drawdown in foundation dewatering, providing a relationship between wall penetrating depth and hydraulic parameters ratio. Effective, suggested, and control values are proposed for practical engineering applications.

Use of cross wall to restrict enclosure movement during dewatering inside a metro pit before soil excavation

Chao-Feng Zeng et al.

Summary: The study investigates the feasibility of using a cross wall to restrict pit deformations during pre-excavation dewatering, and discusses the effect of cross wall spacing on deformation control. The results show that as the spacing decreases, deformation decreases, but there is a critical spacing that plays a significant role in restraining the deformation.
