Using transfer entropy to measure information flows between cryptocurrencies

Ata Assaf et al.

Summary: This paper quantifies information flows between Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Ripple using transfer entropy and Renyi transfer entropy, finding bidirectional information transmission between Bitcoin and Ripple, and only one directional transmission from Ripple to Ethereum. There is no nonlinear information transmission, indicating linear dependency among the three cryptocurrencies. Information transmission mostly occurs before the cryptocurrency crash, and a significant flow is observed from Bitcoin to Ripple.

S&P 500 Index Price Spillovers around the COVID-19 Market Meltdown

Camillo Lento et al.

Summary: The study found that before the COVID-19 market meltdown, price movements in the S&P 500 generally affected other financial markets, but during the market crash, many bi-directional causations emerged. During the market recovery, movements in the S&P 500 prices were more likely influenced by movements in other financial markets.
