Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) offer a sustainable source of energy production by extracting energy from various sources and converting it to electricity. Utilizing MFC technology to generate electricity from waste could provide a cost-effective solution to environmental pollution and energy shortages. This review paper extensively explores the applications of MFCs in wastewater treatment, including various types of waste and the removal of nutrients and precious metals.
