Two-region Darcian and non-Darcian flow towards a well with exponentially decayed rates considering time-dependent critical radius

Yabing Li et al.

Summary: Field pumping tests often involve varying pumping rates and the presence of high-velocity non-Darcian regions near the pumping well that change over time, leading to complex drawdown behaviors. A two-region Darcian and non-Darcian flow model with time-dependent critical radius was developed to analyze aquifer drawdown characteristics, showing that different parameters in the non-Darcian region result in varying drawdown behaviors and critical radii. A new deflection point method was proposed to estimate inertial force coefficient, storage coefficient, and hydraulic conductivity for confined aquifers, demonstrating the method's applicability and robustness through a synthetic pumping test.
