Disk diffusion is a standardized method used for guiding antimicrobial therapy. Guidelines from EUCAST, which are widely implemented in Spain, have led to the recommendations by COESANT for antimicrobial selection using the disk diffusion technique.
Disk diffusion is a well standardized method that provides reliable categorical results to guide antimi-crobial therapy in numerous types of infections. Based on the guidelines of the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST), which are widely implemented in Spain, the Spanish Antibiogram Committee (COESANT) has drawn up recommendations for antimicrobial selection by the disk diffusion technique, including selective reporting and its use for the detection of resistance mech-anisms. Factors affecting disk diffusion results, along with advantages and shortcomings of the method, are also discussed.(c) 2022 Sociedad Espa n similar to ola de Enfermedades Infecciosas y Microbiologia Clinica.
