Summary: This study proposes an effective method for predicting and optimizing syngas production by combining a process model and data analysis techniques. The effects of operating conditions and biomass composition on syngas production were investigated using three types of agricultural waste and 56 biomasses. Results showed that lower temperature and steam-to-biomass ratio were optimal for achieving higher heating value of syngas, and the introduction of steam altered the relationship between temperature and syngas heating value.

Investigation of syngas exergy value and hydrogen concentration in syngas from biomass gasification in a bubbling fluidized bed gasifier by using machine learning

Senem Sezer et al.

Summary: In this study, an artificial neural network (ANN) model was used to investigate the exergy value of syngas, with validation from experimental data showing that the hydrogen content in syngas reached maximum in a bubbling fluidized bed gasifier. The Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm was employed to train the ANN model using input parameters related to oxygen, hydrogen, and carbon contents, as well as gasification temperature, steam, and fuel flow rates of different biomass samples. Further validation was conducted using four different biomass samples and the exergy value of syngas was estimated with low relative error at the point of maximum hydrogen content.
