Combination of Red and Blue Lights Improved the Growth and Development of Eggplant (Solanum melongenaL.) Seedlings by Regulating Photosynthesis

Qinghua Di et al.

Summary: Plant processes such as photosynthesis, photomorphogenesis, and photoperiod are regulated by light intensity and quality. A study on eggplant seedlings found that red light inhibits growth and leaf development, while blue light enhances them. The combination of red and blue light, especially with a ratio of B/R = 1/3, was optimal for growth in eggplant seedlings.

Smart glass impacts stomatal sensitivity of greenhouse Capsicum through altered light

Chenchen Zhao et al.

Summary: This study found that under the condition of using smart glass film, the stomatal responses of Capsicum plants were more affected by changes in light intensity rather than spectral quality. Therefore, the re-engineering of the smart glass film should maximize PAR transmission to enhance CO2 assimilation.

Stable Semi-Transparent Dye-Sensitized Solar Modules and Panels for Greenhouse Application

Jessica Barichello et al.

Summary: The Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) technology, featuring low cost, easy fabrication, good response to diffuse light and color tunability, is suitable for application in the agrovoltaic field. By testing 40 DSSC Z-series connected modules, it was found that they exhibit high conversion efficiency, transparency and robustness when used in a greenhouse setting.

Evolution of rapid blue-light response linked to explosive diversification of ferns in angiosperm forests

Shengguan Cai et al.

Summary: The study found that modern ferns have faster stomatal response to blue light, which is linked to specific genes in the blue light signaling pathway. Cryptochromes in the Polypodiales underwent gene duplication events when angiosperms emerged, aiding modern ferns in thriving beneath angiosperm forest canopies.

Light-altering cover materials and sustainable greenhouse production of vegetables: a review

Xin He et al.

Summary: Research suggests that using advanced greenhouse cover materials with variable light transmittance can enhance light transmission in greenhouses, affecting crop physiology and yield. In-depth understanding of the effects of light changes on crop biological processes, particularly key processes during fruit development and ripening, can promote research on energy-efficient cover materials.
