Real-world emission characteristics of an ocean-going vessel through long sailing measurement

Lei Yang et al.

Summary: The study used PEMS to measure the emission characteristics of large ocean-going ships, finding that emission factors are greatly influenced by real-world operating conditions and engine loads, with particle emissions mainly affected by fuel types. The test results showed a range of particle number EFs and the main components of emissions. The study emphasizes the importance of characterizing a broader range of ships and fuels for future research.

Effects of Fe2O3 and Al2O3 nanoparticle-diesel fuel blends on the combustion, performance and emission characteristics of a diesel engine

Mohammad Nouri et al.

Summary: The research found that adding Fe2O3 and Al2O3 nanoparticles to diesel fuel can improve combustion efficiency, performance, and emission characteristics of a diesel engine. Fe2O3 fuel blends showed better performance in increasing power, thermal efficiency, and reducing CO emissions. On the other hand, Al2O3 nanoparticle additives performed better in reducing BSFC, NOx, and SO2 emissions.

Developing a thermal design for steam power plants by using concentrating solar power technologies for a clean environment

Layth M. Abd Ali et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the development of thermal design power plants utilizing solar collectors to generate electricity using a semi-joint system. The research found that the use of matrix compounds concentrating solar power (CSP) can lead to economic efficiency by reducing the amount of fuel consumed for electricity production, with a saving of 177.5 tons/year. Additionally, the design resulted in a decrease in the amount of thermal energy and nitrogen oxides released into the environment, by 0.628 tons.
