Optimizing the Synthesis and Thermal Properties of Conducting Polymer-Montmorillonite Clay Nanocomposites

Yanrong Zhu et al.

Summary: This study systematically varied the feed composition to synthesize polyaniline (PANi) and polyaniline-clay nanocomposites (PACN), and analyzed their thermal properties. The results showed that increasing the oxidant concentration decreased the thermal stability and melting point of PANi, while the reinforcement of PANi with clay increased its thermal stability and melting point. The optimal thermal stability and melting point of PANi were achieved by adding about 0.1 wt% of the oxidant.

Anticorrosion performance of polyaniline/clay nanocomposites in epoxy coatings

Yuan-Teng Kang et al.

Summary: Thickness-tunable PANI/clay nanocomposites were synthesized and characterized. The results showed that the thickness of the nanocomposites can be easily controlled by adjusting the proportions of PANI and clay, and the oxygen barrier properties of the clay can be enhanced by the growth of PANI. Additionally, the intercalation of PANI/clay additives exhibited synergistic anticorrosion properties.

Synthesis of polyaniline/clay nanocomposites by in situ polymerization and its application for the removal of Acid Green 25 dye from wastewater

Shivani Kalotra et al.

Summary: The synthesis, characterization, and adsorption studies of polyaniline (PANI) and polyaniline/montmorillonite clay (PANI/MMT) nanocomposites have been conducted. The PANI/MMT nanocomposites, fabricated using in situ polymerization method, showed complete removal of Acid Green 25 (AG25) dye, with the adsorption data fitting a pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Due to its efficient and rapid dye removal, PANI/MMT nanocomposites are promising adsorbents for continuous adsorption systems.

Chemical synthesis of nanocomposites via in-situ polymerization of aniline and iodoaniline using exchanged montmorillonite

Mokhtaria Abbas et al.

Summary: The research focused on synthesizing different nanocomposites using in situ chemical polymerization, with analyses confirming the presence of iodine in the resulting composites and different interactions between the materials. The highest yield was obtained for poly (ANI-co-IANI) at an 80:20 molar ratio, while the lowest yield was for the PANI/M-Na composite.
