A systemic review and metaanalysis of postoperative outcomes in urgent and elective bowel resection in patients with Crohn's disease

A Reappraisal of Outcome of Elective Surgery After Successful Non-Operative Management of an Intra-Abdominal Abscess Complicating Ileocolonic Crohn's Disease: A Subgroup Analysis of a Nationwide Prospective Cohort

M. K. Collard et al.

Summary: Surgery following successful non-operative management of intra-abdominal abscess complicating CD provides good early and long-term outcomes. The use of systemic steroids preoperatively and lack of preoperative enteral support were identified as significant risk factors for residual fluid collection.

Hypoalbuminaemia, Not Biologic Exposure, Is Associated with Postoperative Complications in Crohn's Disease Patients Undergoing Ileocolic Resection

Ravi S. Shah et al.

Summary: This study found that preoperative biologics in Crohn's disease patients undergoing ileocolic resection were not significantly associated with 90-day postoperative intra-abdominal septic complications. Low preoperative albumin levels were independently associated with such complications, indicating its predictive value in infection risk assessment.
