Development of high-performance thin-film composite FO membrane by tailoring co-deposition of dopamine and m-phenylenediamine for the Caspian seawater desalination

Zahra Shabani et al.

Summary: This study proposes a facile approach for fabricating a hydrophilic and high-flux TFC membrane. By adjusting the dopamine (DA) concentration and co-deposition time, membranes with high water flux and acceptable reverse salt flux were achieved. Moreover, the optimum membranes exhibited excellent performance in seawater desalination test.

被撤回的出版物: Cross-linked β-cyclodextrin nanofiber composite membrane for steroid hormone micropollutant removal from water (Retracted article. See vol. 658, 2022)

Alaa Mohamed Khalil et al.

Summary: Cyclodextrin loaded composite nanofibers have been successfully applied in water treatment, showing high efficiency in removing steroid hormone micropollutants. The combination of beta-cyclodextrin and polyethersulfone in the membrane structure enhances water permeability and micropollutant uptake capacity, making it a promising solution for water purification.

Polyamide membrane with an ultrathin GO interlayer on macroporous substrate for minimizing internal concentration polarization in forward osmosis

Xiangju Song et al.

Summary: By intentionally constructing an ultrathin graphene oxide interlayer on a polyethersulfone macroporous substrate, the separation performance of the composite membrane can be improved, resulting in higher water flux and decreased internal concentration polarization. This approach also leads to a more stable polyamide membrane with a uniform and defect-free active layer.

Inkjet printed single walled carbon nanotube as an interlayer for high performance thin film composite nanofiltration membrane

Myoung Jun Park et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the synthesis of a thin film composite membrane using inkjet printing to deposit single-walled carbon nanotubes, resulting in a membrane with high water flux and salt rejection rates. The controlled deposition of SWCNT provided a highly porous interlayer that led to the formation of a defect-free ultrathin selective layer, showing significant improvement in NF membrane performance.

Experimental research and engineering application on the treatment of desulfurization wastewater from coal-fired power plants by spray evaporation

Zongkang Sun et al.

Summary: Spray evaporation is a promising zero discharge technology for desulphurization wastewater treatment, with the increase of atomizer rotating speed improving atomization effect, while the increase of wastewater TDS reducing evaporation rate. The designed bypass evaporation tower system effectively treats desulphurization wastewater from limestone-gypsum wet flue gas desulfurization system, reducing SO2 and particle concentration in flue gas and increasing particle size at the outlet.

Effects of reverse solute diffusion on membrane biofouling in pressure-retarded osmosis processes

Peng-Fei Sun et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of applied hydraulic pressure and draw solution types on reverse solute diffusion (RSD) properties and solute concentrations in the support layer. The results showed that RSD of Na+ induced a similar biofouling extent under different pressure conditions, while RSD of Ca2+ triggered increased water flux decline and severe biofouling. RSD of Mg2+ had insignificant effects on biofouling.
