Cognitive impairment in patients hospitalized for congestive heart failure: data from the RICA Registry

Jose Miguel Garcia Brunen et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of cognitive impairment in patients hospitalized for congestive heart failure and its influence on mortality and hospital readmission. Severe cognitive impairment was associated with older age, male sex, higher heart rate, higher comorbidity burden, and history of stroke. Patients with severe cognitive impairment had higher mortality after one year and a higher rate of death or readmission.
