A novel high-efficient MOFs-based corrosion inhibitor for the reinforcing steel in cement extract

Yangyang Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the inhibition effect of zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF-8) corrosion inhibitor for reinforced concrete. The ZIF-8 inhibitor was found to adsorb efficiently on the reinforcement surface, reducing the dissolution of the reinforcement and significantly increasing inhibition efficiency (>95%). The corrosion initiation of the reinforcement was significantly delayed, and the inhibition efficiency remained at 87.8% after 168 hours.

Surface characteristics and electrochemical behaviors of passive reinforcing steel in alkali-activated slag

Yangyang Wang et al.

Summary: In alkali-activated slag, the corrosion behavior of reinforcing steel is significantly influenced by the passive film. A 60 nm adsorption aluminate/silicate layer is formed on the surface of the reinforcing steel, while the influence of S2- leads to a less compact passive film with FeS, resulting in lower resistance. However, the reinforcing steel still shows slightly higher charge transfer resistance in the SSP solution due to the barrier effect of the adsorption layer.
