Can Grassland Chemical Quality Be Quantified Using Transform Near-Infrared Spectroscopy?

Silvia Parrini et al.

Summary: This study aims to test the application of Fourier transform near-infrared spectroscopy (FT-NIRS) in determining the chemical characteristics of fresh grassland samples in north-central Apennine. The results show that FT-NIRS models can be used to quantitatively determine crude protein, fibrous fraction, and dry matter in real-time, while a screening test is sufficient for lignin. However, the models for ash and lipids need improvement. The key factors for FT-NIRS in estimating grassland chemical quality are the absence of sample preparation and the importance of the parameters in animal diet formulation.

Identification of plant leaf phosphorus content at different growth stages based on hyperspectral reflectance

Anna Siedliska et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of different phosphorus fertilization levels on the growth performance of three popular crops using hyperspectral imaging and machine learning algorithms, revealing the impact of phosphorus on chlorophyll and carotenoid contents. The results demonstrated the potential of hyperspectral imaging combined with artificial intelligence methods for non-invasive detection of phosphorus fertilization levels in crops.

Hyperspectral imagery to monitor crop nutrient status within and across growing seasons

Nanfeng Liu et al.

Summary: Imaging spectroscopy is a valuable tool for monitoring nutrient status and predicting yield of potatoes across cultivars, growth stages, and growing seasons. Ordinary least-squares regression models showed poor predictions, while partial least-squares regression models performed well using different spectral regions. Cross-season models exhibited some bias and require further optimization.

Monitoring the Foliar Nutrients Status of Mango Using Spectroscopy-Based Spectral Indices and PLSR-Combined Machine Learning Models

Gopal Ramdas Mahajan et al.

Summary: The study aimed to utilize remote sensing for characterizing the foliar nutrient status of mango through the development of spectral indices, multivariate analysis, and machine learning modeling. Different spectral indices and multivariate models were tested, with PLSR-combined machine learning models showing the best performance in predicting various leaf nutrients.

Potassium: A Vital Macronutrient in Potato Production-A Review

Shahram Torabian et al.

Summary: Potassium is essential for potato growth and yield. Optimal application rates and sources of potassium can significantly impact tuber production. Various factors, such as soil conditions, climate, management practices, and plant varieties, should be considered to make rational potassium fertilizer recommendations.
