Quasinormal modes expansions for nanoresonators made of absorbing dielectric materials: study of the role of static modes

Christophe Sauvan

Summary: The importance of static modes in resonators made of absorbing dielectric materials is highlighted in this study, as their excitation contributes non-resonant terms to the modal expansion of the scattered field and influences resonance signals. By quantifying the impact of static modes through light scattering by a silicon nanosphere, the study emphasizes the significance of static modes in an expansion truncated to only a few modes.
