Enhanced Low-Frequency Sound Absorption of a Porous Layer Mosaicked with Perforated Resonator

Xin Li et al.

Summary: A composite structure composed of a porous material layer mosaicked with a perforated resonator is proposed to enhance low-frequency sound absorption. Theoretical and numerical models are established to predict the acoustic performance of the proposed structure, and experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the design, showing an additional sound absorption peak at low frequencies compared to a single porous layer of the same thickness.

Characterization and Performance Evaluation of Metakaolin-Based Geopolymer Foams Obtained by Adding Palm Olein as the Foam Stabilizer

Qinglin Yu et al.

Summary: In this study, geopolymer foams with hierarchical pore structures were fabricated using vegetable oil as the foam stabilizer and H2O2 as the foaming agent. The effects of H2O2 and vegetable oil content on the chemical features and pore structure of geopolymer foams were evaluated. It was found that the addition of appropriate amounts of vegetable oil and H2O2 can improve the open porosity and pore connectivity of geopolymer foams, resulting in enhanced water absorption and thermal insulation capacity.

Acoustic Properties of Innovative Concretes: A Review

Roman Fediuk et al.

Summary: Concrete is a common building material with different acoustic properties depending on density, type of aggregates, and pore distribution. The level of sound reflection in modified concrete depends on these factors, while sound absorption can be improved by forming open pores. Research on acoustic insulation and AIC properties provides insights into mitigating noise pollution and enhancing productivity, health, and well-being in buildings.

Thermal-insulating, flame-retardant and mechanically resistant aerogel based on bio-inspired tubular cellulose

Jiaming Sun et al.

Summary: This study developed tubular cellulose aerogels with improved mechanical resistant, thermal-insulating, and flame-retardant properties. The tubular structure and carbon layer effectively limited the transfer of heat, oxygen, and volatiles, leading to non-combustion of the aerogel. This approach shows promising applications in exterior wall insulation and vehicle interiors.

Rebound behaviors of hydrophilic particle on gas bubble: effect of particle size and liquid properties

Cong Wang et al.

Summary: The rebound behaviors of particles on bubbles are influenced by various factors such as particle size, liquid properties, and viscosity. Hydrophilic particles cannot adhere on gas bubbles in pure water, but adhesion occurs in high viscosity liquids. Increasing particle size and liquid viscosity can prolong the contact time between particles and bubbles.
