Hybrid magneto-luminescent iron oxide nanocubes functionalized with europium complexes: synthesis, hemolytic properties and protein corona formation

Summary: The study synthesized and functionalized iron oxide nanocubes to obtain multifunctional hybrid nanostructures for biomedical applications, evaluating their biological interactions with red blood cells and human blood plasma. Each domain in the hybrid materials was homogeneously occupied, with magnetic core at the center and Luminescent domain on the surface with core@shell structure. Surface charge of the nanomaterial drastically changed after functionalization, affecting RBC lysis and corona formation.
