Sotrovimab also decreased the risk of emergency department visits, hospitalization, or death, as well as the progression to severe or critical respiratory COVID-19. Adverse events were similar between the treatment and placebo groups.

Favipiravir antiviral efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 in a hamster model

Favipiravir shows strong antiviral efficacy in a Syrian hamster model, with high doses reducing viral infectivity while inducing mutations in viral genomes. However, toxicity concerns are noted at the highest tested dose, requiring further pharmacokinetic and tolerance studies before potential human use.

The efficacy and safety of Favipiravir in treatment of COVID-19: a systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical trials

Summary: The meta-analysis of Favipiravir in the treatment of COVID-19 showed significant clinical improvement in the Favipiravir group compared to the control group after seven days of hospitalization. However, there was no significant difference in viral clearance and oxygen therapy requirement between the two groups. The mortality rate was approximately 30% lower in the Favipiravir group, but this finding was not statistically significant.
