Long-term effects of somatostatin analogues in rat GH-secreting pituitary tumor cell lines

A. Dicitore et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the antitumor activity of octreotide (OCT) and pasireotide (PAS) in GH3 cell line, showing that PAS exhibited a more potent antitumor activity compared to OCT after long-term incubation, mainly modulated by a cell cycle perturbation and a relevant induction in apoptosis.

Predictive model of surgical remission in acromegaly: age, presurgical GH levels and Knosp grade as the best predictors of surgical remission

M. Araujo-Castro et al.

Summary: The study developed a predictive model for surgical remission in acromegaly, identifying associations between age, GH levels, Knosp classification, and pituitary adenoma diameter with surgical remission. The model with the best diagnostic accuracy combined age, Knosp classification, and presurgical GH levels, demonstrating a sensitivity of 93.8% and a specificity of 75.0%.

Predictors of postoperative biochemical remission in acromegaly

Shun Yao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the clinical characteristics and predictors of biochemical remission after surgery for acromegaly using the China Acromegaly Patient Association (CAPA) database. The results showed that higher preoperative GH levels, large tumor size, and greater tumor invasiveness are associated with a lower likelihood of biochemical remission at 3 months after surgery, while preoperative medical therapy increases the chance of remission.

Prognostic Factors of Acromegalic Patients with Growth HormoneeSecreting Pituitary Adenoma After Transsphenoidal Surgery

Chin Taweesomboonyat et al.

Summary: This study identified preoperative insulin-like growth factor 1 index >= 2.5 and Knosp classification grade 3-4 as important prognostic factors for remission outcome after treatment in GH-secreting pituitary adenoma patients. Patients with both factors had poor outcomes, while those with neither had high remission rates. Repeat surgery may lead to remission for some patients.
