(±)-Atrachinenins A-C, Three Pairs of Caged C27 Meroterpenoids from the Rhizomes of Atractylodes chinensis

Fei-Long Chen et al.

Summary: Atrachinenins A-C (1-3), isolated from the rhizomes of Atractylodes chinensis, are meroterpenoids with novel C-27 skeletons. Atrachinenin A (1) features a unique cage-like skeleton, while atrachinenin B (2) has an additional peroxyl bridge ring, forming a complex cyclic ring system. Structural elucidation was done through various spectroscopic techniques and a plausible biosynthetic pathway was proposed. Atrachinenin A exhibited potential TGF-beta inhibitory activity at 25 μmol/L.

Hypermonones A-I, New Polyprenylated Acylphloroglucinols from Hypericum monogynum with Multidrug Resistance Reversal Activity

Yan-Rong Zeng et al.

Summary: In this study, eleven biogenetically related polyprenylated acylphloroglucinols (PPAPs) were isolated from the flowers of Hypericum monogynum, including novel skeletons and compounds. Three compounds showed significant MDR reversal activity, surpassing the positive control verapamil. The mechanism study for compound 5 suggested that it inhibits the function of P-gp transport and the recognition mechanism between compound 5 and P-gp was predicted by molecular docking.

Development of an NMR-Based Platform for the Direct Structural Annotation of Complex Natural Products Mixtures

Joseph M. Egan et al.

Summary: The development of new omics platforms has significantly impacted natural products discovery, but there is currently no straightforward method for characterizing the chemical landscape of natural products libraries using 2D-NMR experiments. The MADByTE platform, employing a combination of TOCSY and HSQC spectra to create chemical similarity networks, offers a more efficient way to analyze complex mixtures.
