Mechanism insight on drug skin delivery from polyurethane hydrogels: Roles of molecular mobility and intermolecular interaction

Shuai Zhang et al.

Summary: This study found that the polyurethane (PU) hydrogel had lower skin permeation amount and diffusion coefficient for lidocaine compared to Carbomer (CP) hydrogel, while it had higher skin permeation amount and diffusion coefficient for ofloxacin. These differences were attributed to the intermolecular interactions and molecular mobility within the hydrogels.

Enhanced Drug Loading in the Drug-in-Adhesive Transdermal Patch Utilizing a Drug-Ionic Liquid Strategy: Insight into the Role of Ionic Hydrogen Bonding

Degong Yang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to increase drug loading in pressure-sensitive adhesive by utilizing a novel drug-ionic liquid strategy and explored the underlying molecular mechanism. Results showed that the synergistic effect of strong ionic hydrogen bonding and normal hydrogen bonding led to a significant increase in drug loading and high drug release percentage even at high drug loading.
