In this article, Dr.-Ing. Dorina Strieth, a young scientist from the Chair of Bioprocess Engineering at the TU Kaiserslautern, introduces herself and discusses the importance of knowledge transfer to civil society. She also presents recent research results on the intelligent use of phototrophic biofilms and the potential for biotechnological production of sustainable building materials.
