The F modification of titanium dioxide was achieved for the first time through a plasma method, resulting in efficient degradation of dyes under visible light.
F modification of titanium dioxide through a plasma method was achieved for the first time. The F modification of titanium dioxide was accomplished by Ar/HF dielectric barrier discharge, including the introduction of Ti-F bonds, interstitial F doping, and substitution of F doping. The characterization results showed that the band gap of Ar/HF/DBD-TiO2 was reduced to 2.78 eV, the fluorescence intensity was greatly reduced, and the electron-hole recombination rate was reduced. The degradation rate of methylene blue by F modified titanium dioxide under visible light reached 92%.
