Multifunctional supramolecular eutectogels for self-healable conductive materials and interface lubrication

Baohao Zhang et al.

Summary: Supramolecular eutectogels formed by self-assembly of low molecular weight gelators in deep eutectic solvents show promising prospects for the development of soft ionic materials. The research on D-glucose acetal gelators (DAn) in this study demonstrated their excellent gelation ability in deep eutectic solvents based on choline chloride and polyols or urea. The structure of the gelators and the type of deep eutectic solvents significantly affect the mechanical properties and thixotropy of the resulting gels, which can exhibit high transparency, self-healing, load-bearing, and injectability.

Deep eutectic solvent-immobilized PVDF-HFP eutectogel as solid electrolyte for safe lithium metal battery

Zhongxu Li et al.

Summary: A novel cheap eutectogel (ETG) membrane based on deep eutectic solvent (DES) immobilized poly (vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoro propylene) (PVDF-HFP) is proposed for safe lithium metal batteries. The optimized composition of DES, prepared by mixing N-methylacetamide (NMAC) and lithium bis[(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl]imid (LiTFSI) with a molar ratio of 4:1, results in a non-flammable ETG membrane with excellent mechanical properties. The ETG membrane electrolyte demonstrates high ionic conductivity and a wide electrochemical stability window, making it suitable for safer lithium batteries.
