Summary: In this work, a carbon-free nano-NiCoFe layered double hydroxide (LDH) catalyst with MoO42- anions was synthesized to address the challenges of carbon corrosion, oxidation, and catalytic stability in high oxidizing environments for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts. The catalyst showed excellent OER performance, including low overpotential, small Tafel slope, and long-term stability, attributed to the stability of carbon-free powder catalysts, synergistic effects between multiple metals, size reduction, high specific surface areas, and poor crystallinity after molybdate introduction. This study provides insights into promoting OER activities and offers a feasible strategy for tackling carbon corrosion and oxidation issues in rechargeable air electrodes under high oxidizing environments.
