Three-dimensional FeP nanotube arrays fabricated through electrostatic-repulsion-limited-nucleation strategy for high-efficiency hydrogen evolution

Changjian Yu et al.

Summary: A novel protocol was proposed to grow FeP nanotube arrays on P-doped graphene for constructing a 3D open porous structure with excellent HER activity through electrostatic-repulsion-limited-nucleation strategy and Kirkendall effect. The resulting electrocatalyst exhibited comparable performance to Pt/C catalyst, showing robust stability with negligible current loss after 40 hours of continuous catalysis at 10 mA cm-2. This approach provides a new method for designing and fabricating inexpensive 3D porous structures with high catalytic activity and stability for HER.

Facile Access to an Active γ-NiOOH Electrocatalyst for Durable Water Oxidation Derived From an Intermetallic Nickel Germanide Precursor

Prashanth W. Menezes et al.

Summary: In this study, intermetallic nickel germanide (NiGe) was identified as a superior Ni-based electro(pre)catalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) with enhanced catalytic activity and durability. Compared to other Ni-based intermetallic precatalysts under alkaline OER conditions, NiGe showed unexpected electroconversion into gamma-(NiOOH)-O-III with intercalated OH-/CO32- that served as a highly active structure.

Enhanced BiVO4 Photoanode Photoelectrochemical Performance via Borate Treatment and a NiFeOx Cocatalyst

Jingnan Zhang et al.

Summary: The combination of boron-treated BiVO4 with NiFeOx electrocatalyst (NiFeOx/B/BiVO4) demonstrates excellent performance as a photoanode under solar illumination, achieving high current density at lower voltages without the need for sacrificial agents. This is largely attributed to the presence of [B(OH)4](-) ligands and NiFeOx electrocatalysts, which enhance the separation efficiency of photoelectron-hole pairs. This work provides a promising approach for developing efficient photocatalysts for solar water splitting.

Nb-doped layered FeNi phosphide nanosheets for highly efficient overall water splitting under high current densities

Shuting Wen et al.

Summary: Tri-metallic phosphide electrocatalysts, specifically the Ni12P5-Fe2P-NbP layered nanosheets, have shown exceptional catalytic performance with low overpotentials and high stability in hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions. The catalyst, doped with Nb and prepared on nickel foam treated with DBD plasmas, also exhibits good durability and achieves high current densities at low cell voltages, outperforming many reported electrocatalysts in water electrolysis. Simulation analysis suggests that the Ni and Nb atoms in the nanostructures are key factors contributing to the catalyst's excellent performance.
