Yi-Yu Liao et al.

Summary: This study presents a thioantimonate material (FJSM-SbS) with high capacity, fast kinetics, wide pH durability, and excellent radiation resistances for efficient Cs+ capture. The structural transformation mechanism during Cs+ uptake and elution processes is directly illuminated, showing the superior Cs+ removal results from an unusual synergy of soft S2- with Cs+ easily exchangeable [MeNH3](+) cations and the flexible, robust framework of FJSM-SbS with open windows as trappers.

Layered Thiostannates with Distinct Arrangements of Mixed Cations for the Selective Capture of Cs+, Sr2+, and Eu3+ Ions

Wei-An Li et al.

Summary: The study achieved rapid and selective removal of Cs+, Sr2+, and Eu3+ ions using two metal sulfides with distinct structures and arrangements of mixed cations. It is the first time that ionic liquid cations and protonated organic amines have been simultaneously incorporated into metal sulfides, showing high removal efficiency and selectivity. The research highlights the potential of metal sulfide ion exchangers for radionuclide remediation, challenging the consensus about the exchangeability of large-sized organic cations.
