Summary: The synthesis of Fe-doped BaTiO3 ferroelectric nanopowder with high visible light photocatalytic activity was reported. Fe-doped BaTiO3 samples with different Fe contents were prepared and it was found that 2 at% Fe3+-doped BaTiO3 exhibited the best photocatalytic activity. Heavily doped systems showed a gradual decrease in photoactivity compared to the lightly doped system.

Piezotronic-enhanced photocatalytic performance of heterostructured BaTiO3/SrTiO3 nanofibers

Xiaoting Liu et al.

Summary: The piezoelectric effect effectively enhances the photocatalytic performance of BaTiO3/SrTiO3 nanocomposites, with the nanofibers showing excellent degradation ability of pollutants in water under ultrasonic and UV irradiation. The built-in polarization field from the piezoelectric effect improves the separation efficiency of photo-generated carriers, while DFT calculations demonstrate a reduction in the band gap width of SrTiO3 due to the piezoelectric potential. This article suggests a promising strategy for enhancing the photocatalytic performance of nanocomposites through the use of mechanical energy.

Summary: Two-phase nanocomposites of BTO and CNNFO were synthesized using solid state route. XRD analysis showed that with increasing CNNFO content, BTO crystallite size decreased while CNNFO size increased, leading to reduced porosity and enhanced grain connectivity. Optical properties revealed a decrease in band gap energy with increasing CNNFO content, and analysis of magnetic and dielectric properties indicated a significant impact of CNNFO on BTO material.

TiO2-Doped Ni0.4Cu0.3Zn0.3Fe2O4 Nanoparticles for Enhanced Structural and Magnetic Properties

Asha D. Patil et al.

Summary: TiO2-doped nanocrystalline Ni0.4Cu0.3Zn0.3Fe2O4 ferrites were synthesized using the sol-gel method, exhibiting cubic spinel structure and semiconducting properties with increasing TiO2 doping level. The addition of TiO2 led to a decrease in lattice parameter, band gap energy, and saturation magnetization of the ferrites, confirming the soft magnetic behavior at room temperature. The presence of a nonmagnetic TiO2 secondary phase was confirmed by Mossbauer study, contributing to the decrease in magnetic behavior of the doped ferrites.
