Enhanced dielectric and ferroelectric responses in La3+/Ti4+ co-substituted SrBi 2Ta2O9 Aurivillius phase

Zulhadjri et al.

Summary: The molten salt technique was used to prepare the Aurivillius phases SrBi2Ta2O9 and Sr0.9La0.1Bi2-Ta1.9Ti0.1O9. The substitution of smaller cations and the increased size of platelike grains resulted in changes in the structural and electrical properties, leading to enhanced ferroelectric characteristics and a higher bandgap in Sr0.9La0.1Bi2-Ta1.9Ti0.1O9 compared to SrBi2Ta2O9.

Emergence of relaxor behavior along with enhancement in energy storage performance in light rare-earth doped Ba0.90Ca0.10Ti0.90Zr0.10O3 ceramics

Aditya Jain et al.

Summary: The addition of Nd in Ba0.90Ca0.10Ti0.90Zr0.10O3 lattice has resulted in optimal grain size and density among the five compositions, leading to significantly enhanced dielectric, ferroelectric, and piezoelectric characteristics. The Nd-doped sample exhibits relaxor behavior with a maximum dielectric constant of 10788 and a high saturation polarization of 41.88 mu C/cm(2). Additionally, the material shows excellent electromechanical behavior with favorable aging characteristics, suggesting its potential application in multi-layer energy storage capacitors.

Structural transformation in Mn-substituted Sr2Bi2Ta2TiO12 Aurivillius phase synthesized by hydrothermal method: A comparative study and dielectric properties

Ilona Bella et al.

Summary: In this study, the hydrothermal synthesis of the three-layer Aurivillius phase Sr2Bi2Ta2TiO12 and Mn-substituted Sr1.5Bi2.5Ta2Ti0.5Mn0.5O12 was carried out with NaOH as a mineralizer. The crystal structure, morphology, and dielectric properties were investigated, revealing that Mn substitution significantly increases the ferroelectric transition temperature and induces relaxor-ferroelectric behavior. The increase in transition temperature confirms the structural transformation from the paraelectric-tetragonal to the ferroelectric-orthorhombic phase.
