Additive manufacturing of Csf/SiC composites with high fiber content by direct ink writing and liquid silicon infiltration

The effects of short carbon fiber content on the microstructure and mechanical properties were investigated. 3D printing wire-on-sphere hierarchical SiC nanowires/SiC whiskers foam for efficient high-temperature electromagnetic wave absorption

Summary: This study develops a SiC nanowires/SiC whiskers foam with a wire-on-sphere hierarchical structure for efficient high-temperature electromagnetic wave absorption. The foam exhibits excellent electromagnetic wave absorption performance at both room temperature and high temperature, and can retain absorption properties even under oxidation. Additionally, the foam demonstrates high flexural strength.

Characterization and modeling of tensile properties of continuous fiber reinforced C/C-SiC composite at high temperatures

Summary: The effects of temperature on the mechanical properties of Liquid Silicon Infiltration based continuous carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide were studied. Tensile properties were determined at high temperatures, showing almost no permanent strain compared to room temperature tests. Different fracture mechanisms were confirmed by analyzing the fracture surface, and a modeling approach for predicting material behavior at high temperature was developed with good agreement between test and modeling results.

Stress field and damage evolution in C/SiC woven composites: Image-based finite element analysis and in situ X-ray computed tomography tests

Summary: This study constructed and examined meso-structural finite element models of CVI C/SiC composite based on X-ray microtomography digital images. Using the IB-FEM method, the damage evolution and fracture behaviors of the composite were investigated, with in situ tensile testing conducted to verify the model. The results showed that material damage initiated at defects and propagated towards interfaces, eventually forming macrocracks, consistent with in situ CT experiment results.

3D-printed impedance gradient Al2O3 ceramic with in-situ growing needle-like SiC nanowires for electromagnetic wave absorption

Summary: The study successfully utilized a combination of DLP 3D printing technology and modified ceramic precursor PSO to fabricate Al2O3 ceramic devices with a gradient impedance bilayer structure, while incorporating needle-like SiC nanowire absorbents to enhance the functional characteristics. Different treatment processes on the Al2O3/SiCnw/SiOC composites revealed that sample 1400-2 showed optimal microwave absorption performance, with an exceptionally high absorption rate of electromagnetic waves. The results suggest that the Al2O3/SiCnw/SiOC composite with bilayer gradient impedance structures is a promising candidate for stealth radar wave absorption due to its unique dielectric properties.

Structure and properties of Al2O3-bonded porous fibrous YSZ ceramics fabricated by aqueous gel-casting
