Constructing nickel chain/MXene networks in melamine foam towards phase change materials for thermal energy management and absorption-dominated electromagnetic interference shielding

Summary: Phase change materials (PCMs) are ideal for thermal management in miniaturized and integrated electronic devices. However, developing PCMs with efficient thermal management and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding has remained a challenge. In this study, a continuous thermal/conductive network was built on a melamine foam template using magnetized nickel (Ni)/MXene (NiM) through dip-coating, and then polyethylene glycol (PEG) was encapsulated into porous NiM/MF hybrid sponge via vacuum impregnation method. The resulting NiM/PCM exhibited suitable thermal conductivity, high electrical conductivity, excellent EMI shielding effectiveness, as well as outstanding thermal stability and high latent heat storage capabilities.

Tailoring electromagnetic responses of delaminated Mo2TiC2Tx MXene through the decoration of Ni particles of different morphologies

Summary: In this work, a rising delaminated Mo2TiC2Tx MXene was synthesized and spherical and flower-like Ni were loaded on it. The flower-like Ni-loaded MXene exhibits optimal absorption performance with a minimum reflection loss value of -50.36 dB at a thickness of 1.4 mm, corresponding to 13.28 GHz frequency with a bandwidth of 3.04 GHz. Meanwhile, Ni-loaded MXene can effectively absorb electromagnetic waves in the X and Ku bands (8-18 GHz) within a thickness of 2 mm.

Cellulose-based Ni-decorated graphene magnetic film for electromagnetic interference shielding

The presence of these binary nanofillers inside the matrix of PVDF improves shielding effectiveness due to absorption and reflection, with a high value of total shielding effectiveness observed in X-band and Ku-band.

Ultrathin flexible poly(vinylidene fluoride)/MXene/silver nanowire film with outstanding specific EMI shielding and high heat dissipation

The main EMI shielding mechanism is absorption, and possible synergistic mechanisms for enhancing EMI shielding and mechanical performance are discussed.
