Fractal Characteristics of the Pore Structure of Coral Powder-Cement Slurry under Different Fractal Models

Qingshan Meng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the pore structure of coral powder-cement slurry and analyzes its fractal characteristics using different models. The results show that the slurry exhibits multifractal characteristics and can be divided into different regions based on pore size. The analysis of different models reveals the fractal dimensions of the pore surface and pore volume in each region. These findings provide a better understanding of the pore structure and fractal characteristics of coral powder-cement slurry.

Pore Structural and Fractal Analysis of the Effects of MgO Reactivity and Dosage on Permeability and F-T Resistance of Concrete

Lei Wang et al.

Summary: The addition of reactive MgO, both with a reactivity of 50 seconds (M50) and 300 seconds (M300), can reduce the compressive strength of concrete at various hydration ages. The permeability of the concrete is influenced by the pore structure, and M50 can densify the pore structure at an early age, while M300 densifies the pore structure only at a late age. The influence of MgO on freezing-thawing resistance is minimal, and MgO concretes exhibit fractal characteristics, with the fractal dimension of the pore surface showing a close relationship with permeability.

PORE STRUCTURAL AND FRACTAL ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE OF FLY ASH AND SILICA FUME ON THE MECHANICAL PROPERTY AND ABRASION RESISTANCE OF CONCRETE

Lei Wang et al.

Summary: The addition of silica fume and fly ash can improve the mechanical properties and abrasion resistance of concrete, while reducing the risks of drying shrinkage and cracking. Concrete mixtures with 5wt.% silica fume and 20wt.% fly ash show increased abrasion resistance and mechanical properties at various ages. Both fly ash and silica fume can decrease concrete porosity and increase the pore surface fractal dimensions (Ds), resulting in desired mechanical properties and abrasion resistance.

Investigation on air-voids structure and compressive strength of concrete at low atmospheric pressure

Xiao-hui Zeng et al.

Summary: This study found that forming and testing air-entrained concrete under low pressure conditions led to lower air content, increased spacing factor, larger average air-voids diameter, wider distribution range of air-voids, thinner air-voids shell, and significantly reduced compressive strength of concrete.

Fractal Analysis on Pore Structure and Hydration of Magnesium Oxysulfate Cements by First Principle, Thermodynamic and Microstructure-Based Methods

Jiasheng Huang et al.

Summary: A novel multiscale modeling strategy is proposed to simulate the hydration and pore structure of magnesium oxysulfate (MOS) cement system. The study found that large M and large H had different impacts on the formation of specific phases and the decomposition of the cement paste. Visualization of the hydration status and fractal analysis revealed the changes in pore structure after hydration.

Investigation and Application of Fractal Theory in Cement-Based Materials: A Review

Lei Wang et al.

Summary: Cement-based materials, such as cement and concrete, are the most widely used construction materials in the world. Recently, the application of fractal theory in analyzing the complex characteristics of these materials has gained global attention. The seven fractal dimensions commonly used in cement-based materials have different physical meanings and testing techniques, providing valuable insights into the macroproperties of these materials.
