This paper numerically investigates the propagation characteristics of optical solitons in erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, considering the varying gain dispersion effect without gain saturation. The influence of different gain dispersion profiles on pulse amplification and the generation of subpulses has been analyzed.
Propagation of optical solitons in erbium-doped fiber amplifiers through the varying gain dispersion effect without gain saturation are numerically investigated by using a modified propagation equation. Two closely gain dispersion profiles, namely linear and exponential, have been considered. The influence of these profiles on the propagation characteristics of the pulses has been analyzed and compared to the constant gain dispersion regime. The results show that a varying gain dispersion can effectively control the pulse amplification and the generation of additional subpulses.
