Trends in depression incidence in China, 1990-2019

Ruhai Bai et al.

Summary: This study assessed the long-term trends of depression incidence in China between 1990 and 2019 using an age-period-cohort model. Results showed that females had a higher risk of depression incidence than males, and the incidence of depression among older individuals has increased in recent years.

Temporal Trends in the Incidence and Disability Adjusted Life Years of Schizophrenia in China Over 30 Years

Wanyue Dong et al.

Summary: This study assesses the long-term trends in the incidence and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) rate of schizophrenia in China between 1990 and 2019. The results show an increasing trend in the age-standardized incidence rate (ASIR) and age-standardized DALYs rate (ASDR) of schizophrenia for both sexes. The local drift for incidence varied across age groups and genders, with a decreasing trend in older age groups. The DALYs rate continued to increase as the birth cohort moved forward, and the increasing trend of incidence was found in individuals born after 1972.

The spatiality and driving forces of population ageing in China

Lianxia Wu et al.

Summary: Utilizing census data from 2000 and 2010, this study examines the spatial characteristics of ageing in China and its influencing factors. It reveals a rapid increase in population ageing nationwide, with decreasing spatial differences between eastern and western regions. The degree of provincial population ageing and its spatial distribution are determined by natural population growth, migration, and local economic development.

Occupational exposures and risk of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in a high-risk area: A population-based case-control study

Yufeng Chen et al.

Summary: Occupational exposures to dusts, chemical vapors, exhausts/smokes, or acids/alkalis are associated with an excess risk of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in high-incidence areas like southern China. The risk of NPC appears to increase linearly with duration of exposure, suggesting a causal relationship between occupational exposures and NPC development.
