Adherence to Mediterranean dietary pattern is inversely associated with depression, anxiety and psychological distress

Summary: The study found an inverse association between adherence to the Mediterranean diet pattern and the odds of psychological disorders, particularly depression, anxiety, and psychological distress. High intake of fruits and vegetables was associated with lower odds of these disorders, while high intake of grains was positively associated with them.

The association between adherence to a dietary approaches to stop hypertension (DASH) diet and neuro-psychological function in young women

Summary: This study found that adherence to a DASH diet in young women was associated with higher intake of folate, fruits, vegetables, low fat dairy, nuts, legumes, and seeds, and lower intake of sweetened beverages and sodium. Cognitive function was negatively correlated with red and processed meat intake, quality of life score was negatively correlated with dietary sodium, and depression score was negatively correlated with dietary vegetables. Adherence to a DASH-style diet was associated with lower stress score and difficulty with sleep initiation.
