Impact of Internet usage time on mental health in adolescents: Using the 14th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey 2018

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between Internet usage time and the mental health of Korean adolescents. The results showed that Internet usage time was associated with individual factors such as gender, grade level, type of school, living arrangement, economic status, academic achievement, and experience of school violence. Additionally, Internet usage time was also correlated with subjective health status, stress, feelings of sadness, and suicidal ideation.

Gender Differences in the Prevalence of and Factors Related to Non-Suicidal Self-Injury among Middle and High School Students in South Korea

Summary: This study found that the 12-month prevalence of NSSI among Korean adolescents was 8.8%, with higher rates among female students compared to male students. Male students with the highest school records had a higher risk for NSSI, while such pattern was not observed among female students. Additionally, female students with lower economic status had a higher risk for NSSI compared to those with higher economic status.
