Correlation analysis of the puncture-side bone cement/vertebral body volume ratio and bone cement leakage in the paravertebral vein in vertebroplasty

Tao Gao et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the influencing factors of bone cement leakage in the paravertebral vein after vertebroplasty for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs), and determine the correlation between the puncture-side bone cement/vertebral body volume ratio and bone cement leakage. The results showed that sex, bone density, and puncture-side bone cement/vertebral body volume ratio were risk factors for cement leakage in the paravertebral veins. The optimal puncture-side bone cement/vertebral body volume ratio was 13.68%.

Long-term outcome of targeted therapy for low back pain in elderly degenerative lumbar scoliosis

Kiyotaka Yamada et al.

Summary: Treatment of low back pain associated with elderly degenerative lumbar scoliosis remains controversial. Percutaneous intervertebral-vacuum polymethylmethacrylate injection targeting to the intervertebral vacuum has been developed as a minimally invasive surgery. The long-term clinical outcomes of PIPI compared to nonoperative treatment showed significant improvement in VAS and ODI for elderly DLS patients.
