Ontogeny of circulating lipid metabolism in pregnancy and early childhood - a longitudinal population study

Satvika Burugupalli et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of antenatal factors on lipid metabolism in infancy, as well as the changes in lipid metabolism during early childhood and the effects of breastfeeding. The findings contribute to a better understanding of lipid metabolism in early life and provide insights for early interventions.

Plasma lipidomics profile in pregnancy and gestational diabetes risk: a prospective study in a multiracial/ethnic cohort

Mohammad L. Rahman et al.

Summary: This study found that lipid networks characterized by elevated plasma diglycerides and short, saturated/low unsaturated triglycerides, along with lower plasma cholesteryl esters, sphingomyelins, and phosphatidylcholines, in early to mid-pregnancy were associated with a higher risk of subsequent GDM. Furthermore, lipid networks and individual lipids related to GDM showed consistent correlations with maternal glycemic markers, particularly in early pregnancy.

Longitudinal Plasma Metabolomics Profile in Pregnancy-A Study in an Ethnically Diverse US Pregnancy Cohort

Susanna D. Mitro et al.

Summary: The study described longitudinal trajectories of targeted amino acids, fatty acids, and acylcarnitines in pregnant women, finding different patterns of changes during pregnancy influenced by body mass index, race/ethnicity, and fetal sex. Future studies should focus on longitudinal measurements and larger samples to examine modifying effects of maternal and fetal characteristics.
