CircWHSC1 serves as an oncogene to promote hepatocellular carcinoma progression

Pengfei Lyu et al.

Summary: CircWHSC1 promotes tumor growth in HCC by upregulating HOXA1 through sponging miR-142-3p. Inhibition of miR-142-3p can alleviate the effects of circWHSC1 knockdown on HCC cell proliferation and metastasis. CircWHSC1 may serve as a potential diagnostic biomarker for HCC as it is elevated in HCC patients' serum.

Long non-coding RNA AFAP1-AS1 facilitates the growth and invasiveness of oral squamous cell carcinoma by regulating the miR-145/HOXA1 axis

Minghe Li et al.

Summary: In oral squamous cell carcinoma, high expression of AFAP1-AS1 is associated with poor prognosis. Knockdown of AFAP1-AS1 significantly inhibits cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in OSCC. AFAP1-AS1 regulates HOXA1 expression by competing with miR-145.

Promotive role of microRNA-150 in hippocampal neurons apoptosis in vascular dementia model rats

Chengqun Wei et al.

Summary: The study found that knockdown of miR-150 can improve cognitive impairment in vascular dementia and enhance memory ability, while also enhancing the activity of hippocampal neurons. Additionally, miR-150 also affects cell apoptosis by negatively regulating HOXA1 expression.

HOXA1 Is an Antagonist of ERα in Breast Cancer

Magali Belpaire et al.

Summary: Breast cancer, with 70% expressing ER alpha, is a heterogeneous disease and the leading cause of female cancer mortality globally. HOXA1, a master regulator of embryo development, has been found to have a functional antagonism with ER alpha, able to inhibit its activity through DNA-binding mechanisms and interaction with NF-kappa B. Although HOXA1 can physically interact with ER alpha, this interaction is not essential for its inhibition on ER alpha.

CircRASSF2 acts as a prognostic factor and promotes breast cancer progression by modulating miR-1205/HOXA1 axis

Wei Zhong et al.

Summary: Our study revealed that circRASSF2 regulates BC progression through the miR-1205/HOXA1 pathway. High expression of circRASSF2 is associated with distant metastasis, lymph node metastasis, TNM stage, differentiation, and tumor size in BC patients, leading to inferior overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). This indicates the potential of circRASSF2 as a therapeutic target for treating BC patients.
