MicroRNA signatures associated with lymph node metastasis in intramucosal gastric cancer

Seokhwi Kim et al.

Summary: The study identified unique miRNA expression profiles that can predict metastasis in intramucosal carcinomas (IMCs), with most miRNAs showing stepwise increased or decreased expression. A machine-learning algorithm could distinguish metastatic IMC from nonmetastatic IMC, and gene ontology and pathway analysis revealed enrichment of key signaling pathways. Furthermore, immunohistochemical staining indicated differential expression of pathway components between metastatic and nonmetastatic IMC.
