Application of Gaussian Weight to Improve Perturbation Features of Convection-Permitting Ensemble Forecast Based on Local Breeding of Growing Modes

Kun Li et al.

Summary: The study proposed Gaussian weights (GWs) as a method to localize the initial condition perturbation (ICP) in the local breeding of growing modes (LBGM), which can better accommodate the varied influences among grid points using a Gaussian function. Experimental results showed that using GWs can enhance the local characteristics of ICP, making it more flow-dependent, and improve both large-scale and mesoscale information.
