Hybrid Mapping of the Black Hole Shadow in M87

Chris L. Carilli et al.

Summary: This study reanalyzes the observations of the Event Horizon Telescope of M87 and applies traditional techniques to the data. The best starting models for image reconstruction are found to be an annulus or disk, producing images with low noise and minimal artifacts. The source appears as a ring or edge-brightened disk, with higher brightness in the southern half, in line with previous findings.

How narrow is the M87* ring? I. The choice of closure likelihood function

Will Lockhart et al.

Summary: EHT observations of the core of M87 suggest a ring-like structure with a diameter of approximately 40 microarcseconds. The thickness of the ring is uncertain, but alternative data analysis methods indicate a preference for thicker rings compared to theoretical expectations.

Variable structures in M87☆ from space, time and frequency resolved interferometry

Philipp Arras et al.

Summary: The immediate vicinity of an active supermassive black hole is a suitable place to study physics under extreme conditions. Observations of M87(star) using very-long-baseline interferometry techniques allow us to investigate its dynamical processes. The presented imaging algorithm copes with data scarcity and temporal evolution, reconstructing time-variable and spectrally resolved images.
