No Evidence for Axions from Chandra Observation of the Magnetic White Dwarf RE J0317-853

Christopher Dessert et al.

Summary: Axions with electromagnetic-like couplings at a level around few x 10(-11) GeV-1 may address some astrophysical anomalies, but the non-observation of X-rays from a magnetic white dwarf severely constrains the axion-photon coupling.

Effects of Magnetic Fields in Hot White Dwarfs

J. Peterson et al.

Summary: The study shows that both temperature and magnetic field effects are important in calculating microscopic thermodynamic quantities for hot white dwarfs at low densities. By numerically solving the coupled Einstein-Maxwell equations for fixed entropy per particle configurations, the research investigates how temperature affects stellar magnetic field profiles, masses, and radii.

Feebly-interacting particles: FIPs 2020 workshop report

P. Agrawal et al.

Summary: With the establishment and maturation of experimental programs focusing on new physics at the LHC, there is a growing interest in exploring the physics of light and feebly-interacting particles as complementary to New Physics at the TeV scale and beyond. FIPs 2020, the first workshop dedicated to this field, brought together experts from various experiments and astrophysics communities to discuss experimental progress and theory models, aiming to enhance collaboration across different fields.

Axionlike Particles from Hypernovae

Andrea Caputo et al.

Summary: Very energetic subclasses of supernovae may host ultrastrong magnetic fields in their core, catalyzing the production of feebly interacting particles and changing predicted emission rates. Recent research suggests that magnetic conversions in rare conditions could significantly increase the emissivity of axionlike particles, potentially leading to the discovery of MeV ALPs in unexplored regions of parameter space.

Consequences of the order of the limit of infinite spacetime volume and the sum over topological sectors for C P violation in the strong interactions

Wen-Yuan Ai et al.

Summary: In this study, correlation functions for massive fermions with complex mass in the presence of a general vacuum angle were derived by building Green's functions in the one-instanton background and summing over background instanton configurations. The alignment of chiral phases from mass terms and instanton effects ensures observables do not violate charge-parity symmetry in the absence of additional phases when correlations are constrained. This result was confirmed by using the index theorem for coincident points instead of instanton calculus.
