Evolution of solar surface inflows around emerging active regions

N. Gottschling et al.

Summary: This study aims to understand the evolution of average inflows around emerging active regions and derive an empirical model for these inflows. The converging flows of about 20-30 m s(-1) are first visible one day prior to emergence, regardless of the active region properties of latitude or flux. The latitudinal inflows in new active regions increase in amplitude one to four days after emergence, depending on the flux of the active region.

Evolution of Subsurface Zonal and Meridional Flows in Solar Cycle 24 from Helioseismological Data

Alexander V. Getling et al.

Summary: The study utilizes data from the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager to analyze spatiotemporal variations of the solar differential rotation and meridional circulation, revealing extended solar cycle behavior. The results indicate that variations of both the zonal and meridional flows exhibit intrinsic features of the solar dynamo.
