Summary: This study compared PROMIS Physical Function (PF) with traditional patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in orthopaedic conditions. The results showed strong correlations between PROMIS PF scores and legacy PROMs in upper and lower extremity orthopaedic patients. PROMIS PF forms were more efficient to administer and had high reliability. Therefore, PROMIS PF measures can be standardized and used to improve outcome aggregation and comparison in orthopaedic research.

Summary: In females under 30 years of age, there was no significant difference in outcomes at 6 months when comparing PAO + HA to HA for the treatment of FAI and chondrolabral pathology. The more extensive surgery with PAO did not negatively impact outcomes at 6 months compared to HA. These findings support the use of PAO + HA, especially in cases where prolonged disability, mental health issues, and higher pain levels might be a concern.

When national drug surveys take too long: An examination of who is at risk for survey fatigue

Summary: The study examined data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health in the U.S. and found that participants who reported using more drugs in the past year were more likely to feel that the survey took too long. More missing responses, especially when skipping over multiple drug-related questions, were also associated with this perception of lengthy surveys. Participants who did not speak English, had difficulty concentrating, or had trouble understanding the interview were more likely to feel the survey was too time-consuming.
